Singapore International School (SIS)THE IMPERIAL APPROACH
We bring Singapore’s early-learning principles into a Mandarin classroom designed for children in Indonesia. Familiar routines, stories and hands-on activities make language meaningful from the very beginning.
A gesture, a new word, a brave first try. We welcome each child’s way of participating and help them take the next small step.
Songs, movement, storytelling and creative activities give children a reason to listen, understand and use Mandarin.
Listening and speaking lead the way. Reading and writing follow as children become ready, with progress based on what they can actually do.
A PATHWAY FOR EVERY STAGE
From a first “你好” to sharing their own ideas. We consider your child’s readiness and Mandarin experience alongside their age.

Age ranges are a guide. Let’s talk about the right starting point for your child.

LITTLE MOMENTS. REAL DISCOVERIES.A LOOK INSIDE OUR CLASSROOM
Language becomes memorable when children have something to do with it. A craft becomes a chance to name colours. A story invites a response. A game turns repetition into discovery.
Our six-part learning cycle creates space to understand, practise and celebrate each small success.

FOR PARENTS
No. Our early-years pathway welcomes beginners. We look at prior exposure, confidence and developmental readiness to help find an appropriate starting point.
Our preschool curriculum draws on Singapore’s Nurturing Early Learners principles, including purposeful play, meaningful communication and holistic development. We adapt the pace and expectations for children learning Mandarin in Indonesia.
Yes, progressively. Younger children build listening, understanding and speaking foundations first. Character recognition and supported writing are introduced when developmentally appropriate. Primary learning develops all four language skills.
Yes. Our curriculum includes simple home reinforcement ideas using pictures, audio and familiar routines. Parents can encourage participation without needing to teach Mandarin themselves.
